The state insures the crew, in the 31 to 50 band, under classes for excavation, concrete flatwork, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry, remodeling and painting. Public work runs from 2014 to 2020 for the Spokane Valley Fire Department, Stevens County Fire District 1 and the state's Engineering and Architectural Services, mostly as prime. Capstone is a lead-safe certified renovation firm, and the state lists Patrick Cummings as a principal since 1990, with Jason and Adam Cummings added in 2015. Capstone fits the homeowner dealing with a burst pipe, a kitchen fire or a tree on the roof, who needs someone to dry out, clean up, work the insurance estimate and then put the kitchen, bath and floors back together under one contract. The work leans toward restoration, remodeling and finish work rather than heavy industrial building, and much of it comes through referrals and repeat customers across several markets in the region. Inland Northwest winters drive much of this work. Pipes freeze in a cold snap, ice dams back water under shingles, and snowmelt finds its way into basements, so water calls cluster from December through early spring and fast drying matters before mold sets in. Dry, windy summers bring storm limbs and wildfire smoke, especially in wooded spots like Nine Mile Falls. Emergency cleanup can't wait, but the rebuild often can: roofing, exterior paint and concrete go best in the dry months, while interior finish work carries on through winter.
