Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho.

Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho is registered as a general contractor in Idaho and has held that registration since 2006. Its base in Hayden puts Coeur d'Alene, Dalton Gardens and Hayden Lake close at hand, with Post Falls and Rathdrum inside the same 25-mile radius. The registration is Idaho only, so its contracting work stays on the Idaho side of the state line. General construction in North Idaho runs on the calendar. Winters bring snow load, frozen ground and freeze-thaw cycles that crack concrete poured too late in the fall. That makes foundations, excavation and flatwork late spring through early fall jobs. Framing and roofing go best once the wet shoulder seasons have passed, so lumber and sheathing aren't closed in damp. Interior finish work carries a build through winter. Dry, hot summers bring their own problems. Concrete needs curing care in the heat, and wildfire smoke can stall outdoor crews in late summer. A homeowner planning work around Coeur d'Alene or Hayden does well to settle design and materials over winter, so the ground work can start as soon as the frost is out.
