Robert E. Berney Construction Inc.

As a general contractor, Robert E. Berney Construction is the kind of firm a homeowner hires to run a project rather than a single trade. That means coordinating the work, the subcontractors and the schedule on a remodel, an addition or new construction. The company is incorporated, operates under its full name, and was issued its Idaho registration in 2025. Its work stays in Kootenai County communities close to home, from Coeur d'Alene proper out to Hayden Lake and the towns along the Rathdrum Prairie. Around Coeur d'Alene, most general contracting jobs that change a house need a building permit. That includes new homes, additions, garages, structural remodels, decks and work that moves walls, plumbing or wiring. Whether the permit comes from the City of Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden or Kootenai County depends on where the property sits, and each runs its own inspections. On a general contracting job, expect the contractor to pull the permit and schedule the inspections. The permit holder answers to the inspector for the work. A request to skip the permit or have the homeowner pull it is worth questioning before any work starts.
