Scott Bennett Construction LLC.

Rathdrum sits at the north end of the prairie, where newer subdivisions have filled in around an older small-town core. A general contractor working from there is close to both kinds of housing, from recent builds that need additions or finished basements to older homes due for repairs and remodels. Scott Bennett Construction holds an Idaho contractor registration issued in 2018, and it keeps its work on the Idaho side of the state line. Homeowners in Rathdrum, Hayden, Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene should expect a permit for most general contracting beyond cosmetic work. That includes additions, structural changes, new decks, garages and outbuildings, re-framing walls, and jobs that touch plumbing, electrical or mechanical systems. Each city runs its own building department, and unincorporated parts of the area fall under Kootenai County, so the jurisdiction depends on the address. The contractor doing the work should pull the permit, because that puts responsibility for code compliance and inspections on the people building it. Ask who is pulling it before work starts, and keep the final inspection sign-off with your house records. Buyers and insurers may ask for it later.
