Cornerstone Inc.

Post Falls is home ground for Cornerstone Inc., and the company's Idaho registration dates to 2006. A general contractor in this part of North Idaho can be the one firm that takes a project from start to finish, lining up the trades and the schedule so the homeowner deals with a single party. When you call, ask directly what kinds of jobs the company takes on most often and whether it handles the work with its own crew or through subcontractors. Around Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden and Rathdrum, most work that changes a house's structure, footprint or systems needs a building permit from the city or from Kootenai County for unincorporated land. That covers additions, new decks, garages, structural remodels, and new or relocated plumbing, electrical and mechanical work. Each jurisdiction runs its own inspections at set stages, so framing and rough-ins get looked at before walls close up. Expect the general contractor to pull the permit in the company's own name and book the inspections. It keeps responsibility for the work with the people doing it, and a finished, signed-off permit matters when you sell or insure the house.
