R & D Woodworking Inc.

The state insures the business under interior finish carpentry and cabinet, countertop and fixture manufacturing, which matches what the shop advertises: building the pieces and installing them. Woods named on the company's site include oak, cherry, alder, maple, hickory and mahogany. The site says Randy Deniston, described as a master craftsman, owns and runs the shop and that the lead craftsman handles the work directly. The state lists Randy, Sally and Douglas Deniston as principals since 2016 and David Deniston since 2018. The company says it stands behind its work, though specific terms aren't spelled out. Commercial work makes up more of the shop's load than residential, and new jobs tend to come through referrals and repeat customers. For a homeowner, the fit is cabinetry where wood species and a custom stain matter, or built-ins fitted into an existing room. Offices, shops and work areas that need storage, workstations or shelving built to size are squarely in range. A whole-house remodel or structural framing is a different trade; this is a cabinet and finish carpentry shop, working within about 25 miles of Spokane. Cabinet installs on their own usually don't need a permit in Spokane or Spokane County, but the work around them often does. Moving a sink, adding a circuit for under-cabinet lighting or a new appliance, or opening a wall for a built-in can bring plumbing, electrical or building permits into play. When a kitchen job touches those systems, expect the licensed contractor doing that part of the work to pull the permit and schedule the inspections, and ask early who is responsible for each trade.
